Frequently Asked Questions
Why Do We Need 48 Hours' Notice for Sourdough Orders?

Sourdough bread is made using a natural “starter” culture, which takes time to develop and activate. We begin by feeding the starter, a process that needs to happen about 12 hours before the dough is even mixed.

Once the dough is prepared, it goes through several rounds of stretching and folding over 4 to 10 hours. Then, we shape the loaves and let them rise during a final proofing stage that can last anywhere from 2 to 18 hours, depending on conditions.
All of this time and care is what gives sourdough its signature flavour, texture, and crust. That’s why we ask for at least 48 hours’ notice — it ensures we have the time needed to give your bread the attention it deserves.

Do you deliver?
Unfortunately not as there's only me but as my little bakery grows I'm hoping to offer delivery in the near future.

Are you FSA registered?

I’m over the moon to share that I’ve received my 10th 5-star Food Hygiene Rating since the “Scores on the Doors” scheme started back in 2005. This isn’t just a number to me—it’s a reflection of years of hard work, learning, and commitment to doing things the right way.
Looking back, I feel so proud to have played a small part in shaping the program. In 2007, I suggested including Critical Control Points (CCPs) as part of the system. I’ll never forget how encouraging the Environmental Health Officer was when she said, “That’s something we should look into.” It’s amazing to see how far things have come since then.

Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, it's the perfect gift for those that are looking for a sourdough bread making experience.

Do you have a phone number?

I can't always get to my phone as I might be arm-deep in flour so it's best to contact me via email or social media. Rest assured, I will get back to you asap.

How should I store my bread?

It is recommended that sourdough bread is stored either in a paper bag, wrapped in beeswax paper in an air-tight container or left on your kitchen worktop covered with a tea towel. The key is to keep the moisture in.

Do not store your sourdough bread in the fridge as it will go hard more quickly

Can I freeze my bread?

Yes! Sourdough bread freezes really well. You can freeze it whole or in slices. Wrap it in tin foil or a freezer bag. If you freeze in slices l recommend putting baking parchment in between to make it easier to separate.

How long will my bread last?

Your sourdough bread will last up to 4 days, as there are no additives or preservatives the bread will go hard rather than mouldy as shop-bought breads sometimes do. If you still have sourdough bread left after 4 days it can be utilised by making herby croutons for soups/salads or turned into breadcrumbs.
